According to Oxford Learner’s Dictionary: clause is defined as “ a group of words that includes a subject and a verb, and forms a sentence or part of a sentence.”

According to Cambridge Dictionary: a clause is “a group of words, consisting of a subject and a finite form of a verb.”

Types of Clauses

There are two types of clauses:

  • Independent Clause
  • Dependent Clause
